Hello *|FNAME|*,

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. The theme for this year is cyber security is everyone's business and we are encouraging you to prioritise cyber security by taking these actions:

To help upskill business during Cyber Security Awareness month we are giving away a number of free SMB1001 certifications. If you would like one of these or to discuss this certification further please let me know.

For those businesses that use Xero and other online accounting systems, do you know that you need to backup your own data. Yes, Xero does limited backups and retains data for 7 years but this is only for data compliance ad data integrity and not for user initiated recovery. There is no "recycle bin" so if you accidentally delete data there are no other recovery methods. Xero also recommend that users regularly backup there data:

"You're responsible for keeping records of data entered in Xero, so we recommend you regularly perform your own backups."

Xero provide some limited manual ways on how to export your data (see https://central.xero.com/s/article/Export-data-out-of-Xero-GL). For a regular scheduled backup method to protect your Xero data please let me know.

Stay cyber safe and catch you next month,

Out and About

Here are some of the things we have been up to in September:

  • Our Sydney techs attended the TechX Expo and Seminar hosted by our supplier, Dicker Data, at the Sydney International Convention Centre. There they gained valuable insights into the latest tech innovations from industry giants like Microsoft, Cisco, Lenovo, HPE, Supermicro, and Dell.
  • Bevin was out and out in country SA.
  • Bevin and Stefan were lucky to have a tour of the new $120 million NextDC data centre in Adelaide's CBD. They were even invited to the launch at Adelaide Oval and then the after party at 2KW.
  • There was no getting away from work while David and family had a holiday on the Gold Coast. It was a hard location to work from with a spectacular view like he had (see below).
  • Fahim was busy working in a few data centers around Sydney. Below is a photo from the Equinix SY3 data centre in Alexandria.

Some photos our Sydney techs took when attending the TechX Expo and Seminar hosted by our supplier, Dicker Data, at the Sydney International Convention Centre.

A major Australia data centre provider (NextDC) opened up their first data center in Adelaide.

Bevin and Stefan were lucky enough to have a tour and then attended the official launch party at Adelaide Oval. They even spoke to the CEO and invited to the after party!

Bevin was out and about in western SA and came across these brilliantly painted silos at Karoonda.

David and family had a holiday up on the Gold Coast. This was his setup at their apartment in Broadbeach, but with a view like that I'm not sure how much work he did!
Fahim was busy working an a large scale Infinidat storage system at the Equinix SY3 in Alexandria.

Optimise Your M365 Setup

Microsoft 365 (aka M365) is a powerful suite of tools. It enhances both business and personal productivity and collaboration. This is especially true for small to mid-sized businesses (SMBs).
