Hi *|FNAME|*,
Welcome to September newsletter.
Well the dreaded COVID finally hit myself and family. We all pulled through ok and luckily the rest of the staff were fine. The business carried on as normal with David and Sam working from home. David and Sam have been out of isolation for a few weeks now and everything is back to normal.
As mentioned a few months back, there is now a new domain name extension available for businesses to register within Australia. The extension is just .au (ie you do not need a .com.au or .net.au) so you can have <yourbusinessname>.au (ie dpcomputing.au).
Until the 20th of September 2022 all businesses that already have <yourbusinessname>.com.au can register <yourbusinessname>.au. After this date the .au domains names are available for the public and anyone can purchase them.
Our recommendation is to purchase it now to help solve any future copyright / trademark issues. Depending on your current setup we can also integrate your new domain with your current website and email so both your current .com.au domain and your new .au domain work and point to the same email and website. Please contact us to assist with registering your new domains.
One issue we regularly see is that users use the same passwords across multiple services. The reason given is that they can't remember all their passwords. Instead of saving these passwords in an unsecured Word or Excel document you should be using a password manager. As well as securely storing passwords a password manager can help you create strong passwords and then auto fill these passwords in your browser Contact us for more details.
If you
would like to catch up to discuss your IT needs or just for a chat, please
let me know via phone (0412 973
503) or email (david@dpcomputing.com.au).
Cheers,
David Perkovic - david@dpcomputing.com.au |
Out
and About |
Last month we have been busy right across South Australia and around Sydney. Some of the work we have been doing includes:
- The finalisation of a large network upgrade and laptop rollout across multiple sites for Aurizon. Bevin was away for over a week in Port Augusta and Whyalla, while Paul D and Ben helped in Whyalla. Paul H, Zee and Muhammad helped at the two sites in Adelaide.
- Stefan spent a day on the lovely Kangaroo Island installing routers for a client.
- Neil has ben doing some early Sunday morning work (at 1AM!) in a data centre in Macquarie Park
- Scott has also been helping setup VOIP phones at a new medical centre client also in Macquarie Park.
